About Headington RoadRunners

History

Headington RoadRunners was formed in Oxford in 1988 by an enthusiastic group of runners. The club is built firmly around its members, our motto being Running Together. This reflects both our style of runs and the friendly social nature of the club. The aim of the club is to encourage and support its members with all their running aims.

If you live in Oxford or you are just visiting, why not come along and try us?. Our membership currently stands at over 200, from 18 to 65 years of age and from those that are faster and keen on racing to those who are slower and less competitive.

And finally, we are affiliated to the Thames Valley Orienteering Club giving us great access to some events!

Where we are based

Our club base is the OXSRAD Leisure Centre. The postal address is:

Court Place Farm,
Marsh Lane,
Marston, Oxford

Situated on the outskirts of NE Oxford, this allows us great access to the surrounding countryside of Otmoor as well as to the streets, paths and spires of the historic city of Oxford.

At OXSRAD, we have a club noticeboard with details of all the club's current events, a collection of entry forms for local races, coaching and club information and a stock of club running gear.

There are changing and showering facilities as well as a snack-bar and licensed bar for relaxing after your run.

Members are not expected to come to all of the training sessions, but most make it along on a Thursday evening to catch up with club-mates, look through the race file or pick-up their monthly Newsletter.

In addition, by joining HRR you will become an affiliate member of the OXSRAD sports centre which has a well-equipped weights room, badminton courts, snooker room and other facilities.

Training Sessions

Our training sessions are designed to cater for all abilities and standards of runner. We run a unique shepherding system (see the routes database) wherein members take it in turns to lead training runs. In addition, we have more structured sessions as well.
