The Bearbrook 10K passes through the villages of Weston Turville, Wendover and Halton, which are to the South East of Aylesbury. Although there is a gentle climb for about a K starting just before 5K, most of the route is flat. However, most of it is along uneven footpaths. The last 0.6K is around a rugby field.
Even though it was a hot day (about 22 degrees), a runner from the Vale of Aylesbury Running Club broke the course record by 15s. He finished in 31:22 with the 2nd person home in 33:16.
There was a great cheer at the finish line when John Munson arrived (in 1:13:38). He, with the late Ray Galley, founded Bearbrook Joggers back in 1984.
As reported by HRR members in previous years, the race was well organised and well marshalled.
For me, the weirdest moment of the race was sweatingly sharing the pavement with a long line of smartly-dressed, young people walking single file with a senior officer in front. They were from RAF Halton: perhaps they were going to church, or maybe they were new recruits.
